According to the Indian Hindu calendar, Raksha Bandhan is celebrated during the Shravana month on the full moon day every year. It is mainly the celebration of siblings where sister’s ties colorful rakhis around the wrist of their beloved brother, apply tilak on their forehead, perform puja and pray for their wellbeing. They pray for the long life of their dearest brother. This holy thread can also be tied to people of non-blood relations so that you feel a sense of belongingness and security. It is a festival that replicates the love among brothers and sisters.

In India, all the Hindu families celebrate rakhi with great enthusiasm and joy. It is a special event for all and sister’s tie rakhi on the right hand of their brother, exchange gifts, eat lip-smacking food and enjoy to the immense. People wear new clothes and go to the temple to pray. On the holy rakhi day, the brothers prefer to wear traditional outfits like kurta-payjama, kurta-jeans or Pathan suits. Likewise, the married girls wear designer sarees and unmarried and the little sisters wear chudidaar-kurta, salwar-kurtis etc.
